5thQuarterSports Is Not a Good Website

SACRAMENTO -- Have you heard of the site 5thQuarterSports? Neither had we until quite recently. We noticed that their Bluesky account was getting a surprising amount of activity for a small site, so we combed through their archives to better understand who they were, and what bar they were setting for independent sports media websites sites.

First off, this site is straight up disinformation. They are obviously attempting to push a bias narrative towards the fall of the NBA as well as personally attack honorable men in power. Just look at the following hit pieces:

• NBA and Palantir Partnership Announced To Track Players On and Off The Court
• Devin Booker Refuses To Acknowledge His Serious Case of Ringworm.

These people masquerade behind the title "journalists", but publish these "articles"? They also obviously have some kind of unhealthy obsession with NBA commissioner Adam Silver, going out of their way to slander him across well over 1/4 of their articles. For what? Just vague complains about the wealthy and authoritarianism? Quite original.

Next is their shoddy attempts at analytics.

These people frequently confuse causation with correlation, and construct false narratives based on half-baked pseudo-scientific analysis. These sophomoric graphics simply allow them to bridge false premise to false premise. They are a slap to the face of data analysis and chart junkies everywhere.

Whatever you do, stay away from this publication. 3rdHalfSports is the true media organization of the mid to late 2020s.
